Education and Training
The GNC Education sub-committee is composed of representatives of GNC members who are involved with teaching Naturopathy or Naturopathic modules.
The function of this sub-committee is to devise the means by which a future regulator may uphold high educational standards in Naturopathy. It reports back to the main GNC board where final decisions are democratically voted upon.
The main work of the sub-committee revolves around the GNC Core Elements and Standards of Naturopathic Education, initially adopted by the GNC in 2004 and subsequently revised in September 2009.

The work of the education committee includes:
- Devising a CPD policy for the GNC (Adopted in 2007). This will become effective after regulation, and will feed into the Federal Regulators' generic CPD requirements for all registrants
- National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Naturopathy were published in July 2009 in conjunction with Skills for Health. Click here to view the document.
- Devising an Accreditation scheme for Naturopathic teaching institutions and their courses; work well advanced, and the composition type of an accreditation panel adopted 2007
- Deciding upon the criteria for the future Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) and Acquired Prior Experience & Learning (APEL) for registrants
- Consideration of the pre-requisites to training
